Lalbagh Flower Show 2015
At least five lakh visitors thronged the venue. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of the scion of Wadiyar dynasty late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar inaugurated the 202nd show.
“The five Mysore Maharajas were also done up in flowers with boards installed that speak of their contributions. A photo gallery ‘Raja Darshana’ brought in rare collections from the Royal family’s album of memories. The show also displayed information on Lalbagh’s 2,200 native species of fruit and flower-bearing trees displayed at the Glass House.
With nearly 1.2 crore expenditure earmarked for the show, the department officials marked a Rs. 50 lakh profit this year as nearly 5 lakh visitors flocked the event. Disseminating information on emerging horticulture technologies, nearly 250 farmers across the State displayed rare and unique farm produce.
Lalbagh itself showcased ‘easy terrace garden vegetable growing’ for people to know.
• This years main attraction was the replica of the Bangalore Palace created using 200,000 Dutch roses, apart from the 5 Maharajas of Mysuru made using flowers.
• The Glass House hosted nearly 800 aesthetic exhibits.
• Nearly 250 farmers across the State displayed rare and unique farm produce to demonstrate the emerging horticulture technologies.
Approximately Rs 1.2 crore ($200,000) was spent on this edition of the flower show.
